Refinished Hardwood Stairs

See How We Used Carpet and Hardwood Together on a Staircase

We recently worked on a Raleigh home where the homeowners wanted quieter stairs but still wanted to show off the hardwood.

First, we refinished the hardwood treads. Then we installed a carpet runner down the center, leaving the wood visible along both sides.

For this project, we used a Dreamweaver Exceptional II runner in style 7404, color Electron 972. At the bottom of the stairs, we installed Riverstone Amber Tide LVP so the lower-level flooring worked naturally with the refinished hardwood.

The result was a mix of wood, carpet, and LVP that feels connected instead of looking like three separate flooring choices.

Carpet Brands You Can See and Compare in Our Showroom

Choosing carpet is easier when you can actually see and feel the samples. Our Glenwood Avenue showroom carries several carpet lines that Raleigh homeowners and Triangle-area builders commonly ask about.

You can compare:

  • Dream Weaver
  • Masland
  • Mohawk
  • Shaw
  • Stanton

We can also pull samples to compare your carpet with hardwood, area rugs, or other flooring products you're considering for the same project.

Where Do We Install Carpet Flooring Around Raleigh?

Our carpet installation crew works within about 20 miles of our Glenwood Avenue showroom. This allows us to keep our service area manageable and stay on schedule.

That includes areas such as Raleigh, Cary, North Hills, Crabtree, Durham, Chapel Hill, and Pittsboro when they're within our service radius.

We also work with designers and realtors who are helping their clients with flooring projects.

If you're outside the 20-mile area, don't hesitate to reach out. We can let you know if we're able to help with your project.

Need More Than Carpet? We Have Other Flooring, Too

Carpet doesn't have to be the only flooring in your home. Many Raleigh homeowners use carpet in bedrooms or upstairs spaces and choose harder flooring for kitchens, bathrooms, entryways, and lower levels.

You can compare several options in the same showroom, including:

  • Hardwood for site-finished and engineered wood floors
  • Luxury vinyl for durable, water-resistant plank flooring
  • Tile for bathrooms, kitchens, and entryways
  • Area rugs when you want softness without wall-to-wall carpet

If you're planning several types of flooring, our team can help you make sure everything works together.

Common Questions About Carpet Flooring

Most carpet flooring projects we quote in Raleigh land between $4 and $10 per square foot installed. Padding, stair work, and furniture moving change the number. A Dreamweaver runner on refinished treads sits higher than a simple bedroom stretch. We measure in person and put the full price in writing before you decide.

Yes. Our dedicated crew handles carpet installation within about 20 miles of the Glenwood Avenue showroom. That covers most of Wake County and stretches into Orange and Chatham. We stretch rooms, wrap stairs, and add runners. Builders and homeowners use the same in-house team from the first measure to the final cleanup.

In our experience, yes, when you want quiet steps and a little grip without covering the whole tread. The Raleigh job above used Dreamweaver Exceptional II in Electron on refinished hardwood. Kids, dogs, and guests all use those stairs. A runner also lets the wood still show on both sides.

Vacuum high-traffic rooms often and blot spills instead of rubbing them. Use a doormat at the Glenwood-side entries and anywhere muddy shoes come in. We share simple care notes with every install. For a deeper walkthrough, our team wrote a luxury carpet cleaning guide you can read after you leave the store.
